I am running from Barrie to the Lake again this year.
Go see! Come run the last 5k from the summerhill liquor store to the lake, 7:30PM Sunday June 21 2009
I have been studying this foot problem. I have been loath to think that running long distances in my beloved vibrams are the cause of my fracture. After some thought, I realized that they may have played a part. My second toe is longer than my first and so in the vibrams they are curled. Searching “Median cunieform bone stress fracture running” brings some information that only runners doing a lot of hill work suffer such fractures.
I have a glimmer of a solution, cut out the second toe end so the toe can stretch.
My car packed it in. It was fixable, but I decided to stop throwing good money after bad.
I have joined the ranks of the antique diesel lovers.
I got a 1983 Mercedes-Benz 300d turbo diesel.
After some study I hope to convert it to recycled vegetable oil.
I am running in Vibram five fingers, I got a new pair for winter.
Here is a pic
They are awesome!
He needs a lot of instruction!!!! And repeated instructions!!
Ran the “Run with the Sun” again this year. Awesome experience, it has it’s own website at Run with the Sun .
We got some gear from corporate sponsors and free beer (at the end) from Creemore. The support team was incredible! Had a great time all (or most) 93.5 kilometers of it.
Ran from Barrie to Toronto Lakeshore, thats’ 92.5 kilometers.
Our strategy was to keep moving the whole time, and we stayed more or less together. We ended up walking the last 30k or so, for the 60k before that we walked up hills and ran (slowly) on flats and down hills. Paul had pretty bad blisters on his feet so that slowed us down at the end.
I am just amazed we finished. I was a little sore in my right leg the day after, but better than I expected. We had a support car so we had a chance to get a bite to eat or drink every 5k or so from 10AM to about 4pm.
There are some pics etc at the website.
Ran the Mississauga Marathon in 3:41, improving, little by littel
